I’ve recently turned off notifications from my Instagram account and suddenly the air I breath is much fresher.
One simple act and my attention has gravitated away from my phone back to the tasks in front of me.
I’m fully aware of the statistics and consuming nature of a device (ironically no longer referred to as a phone) and the intense grip that ‘social’ media has on our society. As a result I am slowly releasing myself from its grip.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not going Quaker on media, but tempering it’s influence back to what I feel is a controllable level.
I understand that the amount of people who see my work will diminish rapidly, however it will be in favour of a more intimate and real response to people who are physically present.
We’ll see it it goes..
