I find that there are some surprising architectural similarities between Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, particularly in their CBD.
Forget about scale, Melbourne and Sydney win out, but there is the Victorian era styled buildings that link them all together in particular with the use of stone. Visiting the Queen Victoria Building in Sydney on George Street has a similar vibe to the Adelaide Arcade despite its grander scale.
The similarities, though small, allow for a sense of familiarity that make travel between these cities feel a little like home.
As a point of illustration.. can you tell which city each of these images come from?
